GULFMET TC Chairs & Secretaries Leader framework

The GULFMET Secretariat held during the online GULFMET week event (06-10 June 2021) the elections for the GULFMET TC Chairs and Secretaries whose term has expired, based on the Guideline for the Work of the GULFMET TCs and the procedure for electing the Chairs and Secretaries.

For the tasks to be transferred from the current TC Chairs and Secretaries to the elected TC Chairs and Secretaries, the GULFMET Secretariat was assigned to prepare a replacement plan during the transitional period stipulated in the election procedure and its duration is (6) months, in which the elected TC Chairs and Secretaries are trained and qualified.

Accordingly, Mr. Jon Bartholomew was assigned the task of directing and supervising the elected TC Chairs and Secretaries under the title of TC Chairs and Secretaries Leader

GULFMET Organizational Structure

:

GULFMET, is a Regional Metrology Organization (RMO) established under the auspices of GCC Standardization Organization (GSO), bringing together National Metrology Institutes (NMIs) of the United Arab Emirates, Kingdom of Bahrain, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Sultanate of Oman, State of Qatar and State of Kuwait.

The International Committee of Weights and Measures (CIPM) granted provisional acceptance of GULFMET as a Regional Metrology Organization (RMO) in accordance with the procedures of the JCRB and within the meaning of the CIPM MRA on its meeting No. 104 ( Paris, 15-16 October 2015).

GULFMET assumes a coordinating role for Legal Metrology in order to facilitate intra-regional and international trade, to assure consumer protection, to safeguard health and environment and to keep contacts with the OIML. Associate Membership of the GULFMET is open for other countries.

GULFMET was established pursuant to GSO Board of Directors' decision in its meeting No.12 (Kuwait, 2 June 2010) with the aim to enhance the metrological infrastructure and activities within the member states, and to ensure the technical capabilities of national metrology institutes and designated institutes participating in the GULFMET as an RMO.

GULFMET has Associate members (NMIs') of Turkey (UME), Egypt (NIS), Bosnia (IMBIH), Korea (KRISS), and Standards and Calibration Laboratory of Hong Kong (SCL).
